Stanley L. Held, 94 years of age, of Pittsford, NY and Palm Beach, FL passed on at his home on January 29, 2020, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife Kay (née Kathleen Heffernan) of 71 years, his children James (Kenn), Kathleen (David), Beth (Peter), Steven (Alison), Brian (Maureen) and Jeanne (Joe) and grandchildren Katelyn, Peter, Dan, Luke, Nick, Leo, Mae, Joseph and Mia. Stanley led a full and rich life with family at his core. He was born in Brooklyn in 1925 and went to Mepham High School in Bellmore, NY. Upon graduation, Stan entered the US Army and was sent to the China India Burma Theatre of Operations as one of only two US forces to serve on mainland Asia in World War II. In late 1945, when he returned home from the war, Stan married Kay and they began a large loving family together. He attended Brown University as an Economics major, graduating in 1950. He began his merchandising career at A&S and then moved to Rochester, NY where he resided for over 60 years and dedicated the rest of his creative retailing career to McCurdys & Co. He also shared his expertise in retailing as a teacher at RIT for which he was very proud. Stanley traveled extensively, loved sports and had a passion for the arts. He was a long term supporter of the Rochester Philharmonic and each of our homes has an extensive collection of his paintings. He loved the game of golf, perhaps more than it loved him, but he never gave up on anything. Stanley was a hardworking, dedicated and proud man, whose shared his zest for life with all that met him. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Donations can be made in Stanley's name to Trustbridge Hospice of Palm Beach.
