Stewart Colwell BROBERG Obituary
Stewart Colwell Broberg, of Palm Beach, Florida, died surrounded by her family on March 24, 2018. She was 92 years old. Stewart was born in Chicago and raised in Urbana, Ohio, by her parents Donald Colwell and Loretta Johnson Colwell. She was an avid horse lover in her youth and attended Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri. She married Gustave T. Broberg, Jr. in 1946 and moved to Palm Beach in 1950. Through the years she was very involved with Opportunity, Inc., the United Way and the Bethesda-By-The-Sea bookshop. She was an active artist and one of her works depicting Chief Justice John Marshall is on display at the Virginia Historical Society in Richmond, Virginia. She was also a member of the Coral Beach Club and the Sailfish Club. Stewart is survived by her children, Peter Broberg (Beverly) of Palm Beach, Florida, and Kristin B. Ford (Tom) of Dallas, Texas; her grandchildren, Elizabeth Broberg of Palm Beach, Florida, and Erik Broberg of Palm Beach, Florida. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Lois H. Colwell of Dacula, Georgia, her niece, Carolyn Colwell Rivers (Ben) of Dacula, Georgia, her nephew, James Colwell of Concord, North Carolina, and finally by her first cousin, Paul "Pete" Dye (Alice) of Gulfstream, Florida. She was predeceased by her husband, Gustave; her brother, Donald Colwell, Jr., and her grandson, Austin Ford. The family is having a private memorial service and her ashes will be inurned in the Columbarium at The Episcopal Church of Bethesda-By-The-Sea, Palm Beach, Florida.
