Maurice Harary Obituary

Maurice A. Harary
West Palm Beach - Maurice A. Harary died on January 31, 2021 in his home in West Palm Beach at the age of 104. He was born on July 4, 1916, in New York City and spent his childhood in North Africa and France and returned to the United States at the age of 20.
He served in North Africa in World War II as a spy in the Counter-Intelligence Corps (CIC) of the U.S. Army. Maurice and his brother Joseph earned medals for their distinguished service to their country.
Maurice married Evelyn Shalom in 1951 in New York and moved to Palm Beach County. In 1957, he opened Maison Maurice in Palm Beach. Now in its 64th year on Worth Avenue, Maison Maurice jewelry is run by his son Henry and granddaughter Raquel Harary.
At various times during his long life, he was an amateur boxer, soccer player, fisherman, and mandolin player. Most of all, he was an elegant and charismatic person who loved everybody that entered his life, and he was loved by all. His charm and humor will always be part of those who loved him.
Maurice Harary is survived by three sons, Albert, a gastroenterologist in New York City, Henry, the current owner of Maison Maurice, and Joseph, an attorney and the C.E.O. of a publicly traded technology company, daughters-in-law Amy Harary, Sara Harary, and Rebecca Harary, 12 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren. His wife Evelyn died in 1988. Donations in his memory should be made to any charity to feed the hungry.
