Eleanore Williams WINFREE

WINFREE, Eleanore Williams

Eleanore Williams Winfree, 83, of Jupiter Inlet Colony, born to Leonard and Elizabeth Williams in Miami, passed away on July 26, 2013, in Boynton Beach. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years, Jules. An avid sculptor, painter and quilter Eleanore loved shelling and collecting seabeans with Jules, caring for her orchids and spending time in her garden. She was active in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lake Worth, St. Jude Catholic Church in Tequesta, the Jupiter Coastal Players, and the Garden Club. While attending Miami Edison High, she led the marching band as head majorette and performed at the Orange Bowl. Eleanore studied dance, and while attending Barry College in Miami, served with the USO. At the age of 9, Eleanore sailed with her mother to Germany, returning to the U.S. at the start of the second World War. Most important to Eleanore was spending time with her four children: David Matthew Winfree (Nancy), of Fairport, New York; Juliana W. Parkes (John), of Chandler, Arizona; Erin W. Fox (Leo) of Boca Raton, Florida; Christopher Jules Winfree (Erin) of Piermont, New York; seven grandchildren, Leo Sebastian Fox, Lauren Marie Fox, Natalie Elise Parkes, Emily Caroline Parkes, Grace Marie Winfree, Sarah Marie Winfree, and Erica Wei Winfree. In addition to her children and grandchildren, she is also survived by her sister, Frances Resler, of Ithaca, New York, many cousins and friends, all of whom will miss her. We will always remember her beautiful smile, her generous nature and her amazing carrot cake and cookies. A memorial Mass for Eleanore and Jules will be held at St. Jude Catholic Church in Tequesta, on Saturday, August 17th at 10:30AM. In appreciation of the compassionate care and attention given both Eleanore and Jules by the dedicated professionals of Hospice of Palm Beach County, donations may be made in their memory.
