Frances Jean HOURAHAN Obituary
HOURAHAN, Frances Jean Fran, known as Biddy to her very close friends, left us on June 29, 2018. She passed away at JFK Medical Center in West Palm Beach. Surrounded by her loving family, Dan her husband of over 50 years, her two daughters Heather and Erin and her son Daniel. She also leaves behind her two grandchildren Kyla and Daniel III and her brother Fred. Fran was born August 18, 1945 on the Military Base of Fort Monmouth, Oceanport, NJ. At the age of 6 months, she accompanied her family to Tokyo, Japan where her father, Captain McCormack, was a member of General McArthur's staff. While in Japan, she attended Sacred Heart Academy in Tokyo. After her arrival back to the United States, Fran graduated from Star of the Sea Academy and the Taylor Business College in Long Branch, NJ. It was at the Jersey Shore where Fran and Dan first met, and they instantly became inseparable. In February of 1968 Fran and Dan were married and resided in West Long Branch, NJ. After 4-short years, Dan received the opportunity to be transferred to the ITT Levitt Development Corporation Project in Palm Coast, FL. While living on the project, their daughter Erin, was the first baby to be born in the newly established community of Palm Coast. Through her entire life, Fran was always a people person. She had many jobs in her life and in everyone, she dealt directly with the public face to face. Her proudest accomplishment in her life, aside from her family, was helping to start and retire from the newly formed company of Grower's Outlet, in Lake Worth, FL. And, if I may, quote from Fran's retirement letter from the owner, "We at Grower's wanted to reach out and officially thank you for getting the big wheel rolling. Your smile, personality and all round good humor got the customers coming back for more. You also taught others around you how to be the ultimate sales person. We all learned from you after your calling us out on being way too GROUCHY and you personally set the standards for Grower's Outlet. We will always love and never forget you - Jersey Girl". A fitting ceremony was held on August 28, 2018 at 10:00AM at the South Florida National Veterans Cemetery, 6501 SR 7, Lake Worth, Florida 33449.
