Paul Linn HARR, Jr. Obituary
A Celebration of Life was held on Saturday, June 9, 2018 in honor of Paul Linn Harr, Jr., 61, of Appleton, Wisconsin and Palm Beach, Florida as family and friends gathered aboard the Sea Mist III off the coast of his beloved Palm Beach. The late sun shone brightly upon the waves of the Atlantic as mourners scattered ashes, dropped white roses into the water, and eulogized a most extraordinary man taken much too soon. With his loving wife Cindy by his side, Mr. Harr died suddenly, but peacefully on May 4th while at his home in Palm Beach. An accomplished career Information Systems executive, Mr. Harr's current position was Vice President of Global Infrastructure Services at Oshkosh Corporation, a leadership position he held since 2012. Prior to that he served as Senior Infrastructure Portfolio Manager at Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu U. S. and as Senior Global Product Manager at Apex Systems before moving on to Oshkosh Corporation six years ago. He worked for Nissan Americas between 2005 and 2010, where he served as Director of Infrastructure Services for North America, and where he led their IT infrastructure strategy, service and project delivery for the $25B Nissan North America region, with an annual IT Infrastructure budget of more than $110M. Mr. Harr spent much of his early career, 1982 2002, with Cendant Corporation (formerly Galileo/Covia/United Airlines), and more recently with General Motors as Director of North American Operations and Infrastructure. Mr. Harr was born in Palm Beach, Florida and spent his formative years in Atlanta, Georgia. He was a proud graduate of Georgia State University, where he earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Information Systems Technology. "Paul always seemed to me to be the most intelligent guy in the room and also the most humble. He was generous with his time and he was able to build strong teams because he genuinely cared about individuals," said Russell Waldon, a lifelong friend. "Paul was also a great car guy. He loved to attend the best car shows and he would marvel at the classic luxury features and the timeless designs." Paul and his devoted wife Cindy enjoyed traveling, and visited many fabulous destinations in recent years, including the Czech Republic, Spain, Italy, China, England, Scotland, France, Germany and locations all across the United States. Mr. Harr was an avid cyclist and once joined a cross-country group that rode from California to Florida, ending in St. Augustine by dipping their bike tires in the Atlantic Ocean. Mr. Harr was preceded in death by his mother, Rose Sipos, and his father, Paul Linn Harr, Sr. He is survived by his wife Cindy, daughter Katie Harr of Durango, Colorado, stepdaughter Amy Ranger of Oakland, California, stepson David Underwood and granddaughter Makenzie Underwood of Hendersonville, Tennessee, brother Jeff Harr (Cheryl) of Corinth, Texas; sister Susan Hurley (Jim) of Fernandina Beach, Florida, and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers the family asks that interested persons and organizations contribute to The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee / The Paul Harr Memorial Fund. The website is (www.CFMT.org).
