Scott Beigel Obituary
Beigel, a geography teacher, cross-country coach, and summer-camp counselor, saved the lives of students during the shooting, the Sun-Sentinel reports.
"He cared a lot about his students," one student, Thomas Risley, told the Miami Herald. "I'm going to miss his colorful personality."
"Thousands of people at Camp Starlight looked up to Scott," a summer-camp colleague, Grant Williams, told the New York Times. "He was someone you strive to be like."
The Sun-Sentinel reports that the funeral for Scott Beigel will be Sunday, Feb. 18 at 2pm at Temple Beth El, 333 SW 4th Ave., Boca Raton.
Legacy mourns all those who died at Stoneman Douglas.

We think of Scott especially on Valentines Days. Hard to believe it´s been 7 years since this unspeakable tragedy happened. We have a son who is the same age as your son and he too teaches geography in a high school in Michigan. I followed the trial and was inspired by the speech you gave in court referring to the monster who killed your precious son. Sending our prayers and remember Scott will NEVER be forgotten.

My husband is a high school teacher and we have had this conversation many times (too many times after a shooting). We all would like to think we could act as bravely as Scott did. Many many more families are NOT going through what you are because of his selfless act. God bless and I hope you can take a small amount of comfort knowing how many children he saved that will now go out and truly try to change the world against gun violence. I remember waiting on Scott at the Annex Shoppe, all the years that he, along with so many others picked out their clothing for their Camp Starlight summers.
