Sloan Robert CAMPBELL Obituary
Sloan R. Campbell, 80, of Greenacres, FL, passed away on August 3, 2018. Known for being a superhero who would come to the rescue for any problem, he used his powers to help family, friends and strangers alike. Sloan was a pillar of the Greenacres community, where he served as town Mayor from 1978 to 1979. He began his career with the town as Deputy Marshall from 1964 to 1972 and was then elected Town Marshal, a position he held until 1976. He also served as Greenacres Chief of Police from 1973 to 1976. In 1977 he was elected Town Councilman. Sloan is survived by his two sons, Ted (Peachy) Campbell, David (Rachel) Campbell; nine grandchildren, Teddy Jr. (Elizabeth) Campbell, Scott Campbell (Lauren Miré), Zachary Campbell, Jacqueline Campbell Phillips, Gregory Campbell, Derek Campbell, Haley Campbell, Joe (Nikki) Campbell, Josh Campbell; five great-grandchildren, Grace Campbell, Benjamin Campbell, Isabelle Phillips, Avery Phillips, Jameson Phillips; three sisters, Kathy (Pat) Fagan, Anita (Rich) Vandervort, Nancy Curley; as well as many close family members including Sheila Campbell and Lola Marx, his loving girlfriend Nancy Read whom he considered the second love of his life, and many friends. He was predeceased by his youngest son, Jerry Campbell, and his wife of 60 years, Katherine Campbell. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 11, beginning at 11 a.m. at 345 Martin Avenue, Greenacres, FL. Attendees should park at the Ira Van Bullock Park ball fields parking lot (501 Martin Ave, Greenacres, FL), where a trolley service will be available.
