William Murray BRAMSON

1926 - 2019

William Murray Bramson, age 93, passed away on April 7, 2019 in Stuart, Florida. Born in New York City on March 9, 1926, Bill served our country during WWII in the Army Air Corps sparking his lifelong love of flying. Following his service, he graduated from City College with a chemistry degree. While in college, he met the love of his life, Shirley Kern, a resident of Trenton, New Jersey and an NYU college student, marrying her on March 8, 1953. Utilizing his keen knowledge as a chemist, he founded B&M Finishers, Inc., a metal finishing company in 1956. He was a member of the Rotary Club serving as its president in the 1970s. Bill and Shirley raised their three children in Murray Hill, New Jersey. A love of the ocean led the Bramsons to purchase a second home in Harvey Cedars, Long Beach Island where the family summered for many years. An avid sailor, ardent golfer and tennis player, Bill, along with his wife, eventually retired to the Sailfish community of Stuart, Florida. As much as he was enthused athletically, he was also artistically talented in later years painting city and beach landscapes as well as portraits of all that interested him, gifting many of these pieces to family and friends. A true Renaissance man, he will be sorely missed for his quick wit and love of family. Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Shirley Bramson; his sister, Bernice Tannenbaum; his daughter, Jan Rutte and her husband Joe; sons, Bob Bramson and his wife M.J., and Doug Bramson; grandchildren, Lindsay Marjoram and her husband, Robin, Jordan Rutte and his wife, Karin, Michelle Braga and her husband, David, Sgt. Drew Bramson and Austin Bramson; great-grandchildren, Jackson Marjoram and Miles Bramson. A private ceremony for Bill will be held on a later date at Bathtub Reef in Stuart, Florida.
