Florence E. SELF Obituary
Florence Self passed away on August 30, 2017, peacefully at home in Palm Springs, at the age of 93. Born at home to James and Flora Bell Wadsworth (later Hock), she was raised in West Palm Beach and Lake Worth. Flo was the eldest of 6 children and was predeceased by all: Byron Hock, Joanna Brown, Letha Harris, Wilton Hock, and Herbert Hock. Their childhood home was donated to Yesteryear Village at the South Florida Fairgrounds and houses the Bell South Museum. Married to Richard B. Self, a career U.S. Army officer, she is survived by her twin children, Robert Lee Self and Valerie Joyce Moré (José), granddaughter, Victoria "Torii" Moré (Kelby Cumpston) and many loving nieces and nephews. After graduating from Lake Worth High School, she joined the Marine Corps during WWII serving two years, married, then transfers as a military family, stationed in Germany and Okinawa and places in between. On moving back to the states, Flo and Richard moved to Tombstone, Arizona and ultimately back to the Village of Palm Springs upon Richard's death in 1988. Burial will take place October 13, 2017 at the South Florida National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to the U. S.
