Linda Jane Klassen Obituary
LINDA JANE KLASSEN Date of Birth May 1, 1948 Date of Death January 21, 2018 Place of Birth: Huntington Park, CA. Parents: Mother Betty Jane Wright of Virginia Father Donald W. Ross of California Step-father Jack W. Dodrill of Oklahoma Linda was raised in the San Fernando Valley area of California with her sister Jackie Estrada (Las Vegas, NV) and brother Wesley Dodrill (Mountain Home, Arkansas). She graduated from San Fernando High School in 1966. She would often refer to herself as one of the original "Valley Girls". Linda married Emmett Culley in 1966, and they had two daughters; Lara Ann Culley-Brostko of San Jose and Joy Louise Culley of Solvang. In 1991, Linda married Ken Klassen in Paradise, where they lived and raised their combined children including Jodi Ann Klassen-Arens of Orland and Jeff Klassen of Magalia. Linda was very proud of her 6 grandchildren. Linda worked her entire life in the Law Enforce-ment/Criminal Justice field, beginning in 1969 with the Los Angeles Superior Court; San Jose Police Department and Paradise Police Department. She was a court clerk, records and warrants clerk, 911 dispatcher and completed her career as the secretary to the Chief of Police. After she retired in 2001, she began to explore family genealogy based upon DNA. Linda and Ken made many trips by RV to Virginia to explore family genealogy and discover lost family cemeteries in the mountains of Appalachia with the help of her Virginia Family. During her travels to Virginia, Linda always expressed that she felt she was going home, as she spent her early years with her grandparents in Virginia. Linda was successful through DNA results to locate and unite with two first cousins from her father's family (Dale Ross and Glenna Ross Boldrick). Linda and Glenna developed an immediate family closeness, which Linda found very personally rewarding. Since September 2014, Linda has been undergoing treatment for brain cancer tumors at UCSF where she has had multiple surgeries, participated in Clinical Trials and received outstanding care and treatment under Dr. Jennie Taylor. Linda expressed to her family and Dr. Taylor her desire to help in the research for a cause and cure of Glioblastoma primary brain cancer. She wanted her experience to help others, more than to help her. Linda's parents have all preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband Ken, children Lara, Jodi (Greg), Joy (Amy), and Jeff (Theresa); sister Jackie Estrada; brother Wesley (Donna); former husband Emmett Culley; grandchildren Nathanial Klassen, CJ Brostko, Brandon Klassen, Layla Klassen, William Arens and Jordan Arens and her longtime friend Jerilyn Houseworth.
