Shirley Hayes Murray Obituary
Former, long time Park City resident, Shirley Hayes Murray, passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at home in Salt Lake City, UT with her family and care givers by her side. During her life, Shirley was many things: Georgia farm girl, AT & T phone operator, HR Manager for a large manufacturing plant (where despite her diminutive size, she could have 200 lb men quaking in their boots) and finally sales person for Deer Valley Signature Stores. For ten years, each and every guest that Shirley encountered received not only the Deer Valley Difference but also her soft southern charm. As a devout Christian, Shirley served 10 years as a Stephen Minister (a lay care giving ministry that supplements pastoral care). She was also very active in the local P.E.O. chapter (The P.E.O. Sisterhood is an international women's organization with a primary focus on providing educational opportunities for female students worldwide).

The positions Shirley loved most were wife, mother and grandmother. From teacher, to friend to secret keeper, to nurses aid, to sous chef, her greatest love was being with her family and their friends and helping selflessly. To her friends she was most often called Grandma Shirl.

Shirley will be buried next to her husband, Thomas Laverne Murray, on Monday, June 18th, 2018 in Jesup, Georgia. Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home of Jesup, Georgia is in charge of arrangements. She is preceeded in death by her parents, her husband of 40 years, her grandson, Tyler Turkington, two brothers, one sister and numerous other relations. She is survived by her daughter, Debby (Brent) Murray Turkington, grandsons, Barret Murray and Lucas Bradley Turkington, brother, Jerry Hayes of Jesup, Georgia and numerous other cousins, nieces and nephews.

There will be a Celebration of Shirley's life planned for later this summer here in Utah.
