MALONEY, Mary Patricia
Pat Maloney died peacefully at her Pasadena home surrounded by her loving family on Friday, December 14, 2012 at 9:19 am as a result of ovarian cancer. Christmas music was playing in the background and the fireplace was blazing as she passed from this world to the next.
Pat was born in Philadelphia on March 10, 1935 and raised in Hammonton, NJ. Pat graduated from St. Agnes School of Nursing in Philadelphia, PA in 1956. There she met the love of her life, Thomas A. Maloney, at a hospital dance party. Pat and Tom married on May 25, 1957 and raised six children as part of an Air Force family.
The family enjoyed traveling the world, living in many parts of the United States, Morocco, Italy, and Turkey. Pat and Tom retired an established their home in Pasadena in 1980, attending the Rose Parade every year. Pat loved walking on the beach, going out to various restaurants, and enjoying her backyard garden.
Pat continued her nursing career in various locations. She loved her 20 years as a nurse and administrator at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena as she was surrounded by amazingly dedicated and caring professionals.
Pat is survived by her heartbroken husband, Tom; children: Mary Pat Malerk (Don, Kyle, Ryan) Missoula, MT; Tom Maloney (Lisa, Clay, Reanne) Santa Clarita; Kevin Maloney, Concord; Barbara Moore (Rich, Taylor) Huntington Beach; Chris Maloney (Lisa, Jack, Luke, Grace) Ladera Ranch; Shawn Maloney (Shannon) Costa Mesa; sister, Betty Salvo (Dr. John, Steve, Donna, Kathy, Dr. John Jr.) NJ; sister-in-law, Elaine Maloney, PA as well as numerous friends, relatives and colleagues.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Alice and Clayton Cooper, in-laws Anna and Thomas Maloney, aunt Marion Bailey, and niece Rosemary Sarandoulias.
Pat's family would like any donations to be made to the Huntington Memorial Hospital Nursing Scholarship dedicated to Pat Maloney, RN and/or to St. Andrew's Catholic Church, both in Pasadena,CA.
A celebration of Pat's life will be held with a viewing on Friday, 21 December from 2-6 pm, with a rosary at 4 pm, at Cabot & Sons, 27 Chestnut Street, Pasadena, CA, 91103 (626)793-7159. Funeral Mass will be on Saturday, 22 December, at 11:00 am at St. Andrews Catholic Church, 311 N. Raymond, Pasadena, CA 91103 (626)792-4183. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, 966 North Potrero Grande Drive, Montebello,CA, 90640 (323)887-2024. The family will host a reception for close family and friends in the Pasadena area following the services.
