Fred Bowden Obituary

Fred E. Bowden

Fred E. Bowden was born on March 24, 1942 to Edward R. and Elizabeth J. Bowden in Pasadena, California. Fred's last breath was taken with his "Lovely", Diane, by his side at his happiest place on earth, The Rio Hardy River in Mexico on February 17, 2018.

Fred lived a full life doing exactly what he loved. He was a graduate of MD (Monrovia-Duarte) High School and then attended Pasadena City College achieving his Journeyman Electrical Degree. Fred began his professional career as an Electrician, then expanded his title when he became an Electrical Contractor. In 1969, Fred and Diane built their first home and F&D Bowden Construction Inc. was created, later to be known as Bowden Development, Inc. Fred was not only a successful businessman, but also an avid participant in his community of Monrovia. His involvements include, but are not limited to, Monrovia Kiwanis Club, Ducks Unlimited, The Boys and Girls Club of the Foothills, YMCA, Monrovia Community Civic engagements and many more.

Fred was born with a passion for adventure. It began early on with participation in various sports throughout school. He then found a love for hunting, fishing, boat racing, Nascar, water and snow skiing, car collecting, car shows, his poker nights and more importantly, family outings. His heart was big enough for them all and he made sure he found time to make life happen!

Fred is survived by his wife of 54 years, Diane, his daughter, Traci and Son-in-law, Gary, Son, Todd and Daughter-in-law, Kristy, and his sister, Sally. He was "Grandpa" to Taylor (24), Troy (23) Tatum (20) Taylor (21) and Kade (14). Let us not forget his faithful hunting companion, Black Lab, Stone.

Fred never missed a party, so please join us for his Celebration of Life on Friday, March 23rd, 10 am at Our Savior Lutheran Church 512 W. Duarte Rd in Arcadia, California 91007. Reception to follow. In Lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in honor of Fred to Ducks Unlimited, Sonoran Institute, The Boys and Girls Club of the Foothills, or City of Hope.

We were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of our dear friend. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Bowden family at this difficult time.

"We are so often caught up in our own destination that we forget to appreciate the journey, especially the love, generousity and goodness of the people we meet along the way. Appreciation is a wonderful thing; don't forget it."

Fred will be sorely missed by all those whose lives he touched along life's journey. Rest in peace.

Sincerely,
Joe & Donna Mustacchio

Our hearts go out to the many people that loved and knew Fred. His somewhat occasionally gruff exterior was just that. When my husband passed (he was Bowden's computer networking guy) I had several of Mike's business deals that needed completing with Fred . I was terrified to meet with him, I remember waiting in his lobby and conversing with the receptionist, she knew Mike and said sweet stuff, I cried. So when Fred walked out to get me I was in full on widow mode doing the ugly cry. ugh.. I was so nervous to meet with him. In the end he actually was so sweet to me especially regarding Mike. He was extremely empathetic for our loss and also even accepted my business proposal! He did amazing things for sweet Monrovia and I will miss seeing him cruising around in red vehicles. Love to you all. Colleen Pollard
