Aug.11, 1948 - Dec. 7, 2018 Claudia Jean Kirkland Osborne, 70, died peacefully at home in Lakewood, CA on December 7, 2018. She was a long-time resident of Lakewood, CA and the widow of Everett Arnold Osborne. Jean's life is marked by resilience and energy, and she was a generous, kind, and supportive wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was an author, an avid photographer and a former manager with the Superior Court of Los Angeles who loved to travel, study God's word, and spend time with family and friends. She received Bachelor's and Master's degrees in English Literature from California State University, Long Beach and she is the author of the book, "Events from the Past, Memories for the Future". She was cared for by her loving son, Derrick Osborne, her daughter, Jackie Beery, her daughter-in-law, Nadyne Osborne, and her son-in-law, David Beery. She was formerly a member of First Baptist Church of Pasadena, CA and Gospel Memorial Church of Long Beach, CA. Her husband, Everett, preceded her in death as did her parents Lora Lillian Kirkland and Ambrose Lee Kirkland, Jr. Of her twelve siblings, she is also preceded in death by her sister and brothers: Loretta, Douglas (Mary), and Anthony Kirkland. Jean will be continue to be cherished her children, Derrick Osborne (Nadyne) and Jackie Osborne Beery (David); her grandchildren, Derrick Osborne, Jr., Josie and Darcy Beery; her siblings, Deborah, Leslie, Kenneth (Linda), Jimmy (Doris), Angela, Ambrose, Tommy (Karin), Eric (Karin), and Reba Kirkland; and many, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A memorial service was held in Tallahassee, FL at Greater Mt. Zion P.B. Church on Saturday, December 15, 2018 and a local service will be held at Lakewood First United Methodist Church on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018 at 1pm.
