THOMAS, Judy (Yoder) Ryan

Judy (Yoder) Ryan Thomas passed away November 5, 2013 in Arcadia, California. She was a virtual lifelong resident of Monrovia and was active in many local organizations including Monrovia League, Monrovia Guild of CHLA, PEO Chapter EC, Monrovia Rotary Club, Monrovia Tennis Club, and Monrovia Dance Club. Judy attended Monrovia Schools where her parents, Merlin and Doris Yoder, had been teachers. After graduating from M-D HS, she attended UC Santa Barbara and later graduated with a B.A. from La Verne College. After her marriage to William (Bill) T. Ryan in 1958, she and her husband owned and operated the Leven Oaks Hotel for many years. Bill preceded her in death in 1991. Later, Judy proudly served on the Board of Directors of the Granite State Bank which Bill had founded. Judy loved sports, reading, and animals. Her numerous orphan cats were a prized possession. She is survived by her devoted husband, Arthur F. Thomas, daughters, Kelly Ryan Lugo, Kristy Ryan Pittman, five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Also survived by her brother Jon Yoder of Spokane, Washington and Art's children Susanne, David and Laura. Visitation will be on Friday, November 15, 2013 from 5:00pm-8:00pm at Douglass & Zook Chapel, 600 E. Foothill Blvd., Monrovia, CA. A memorial service will be held at the Monrovia 1st Presbyterian Church on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. A reception will follow at the Monrovia Tennis Club, 168 N. Sunset Place, Monrovia, CA. Services have been entrusted to Douglass & Zook Funeral and Cremation Services, Monrovia, CA.

My condolances to Aunt Judy's daughters & grandchildren. Also to Art & family. My thoughts & prayers to you all in your loss. Thank goodness we always have many good memories to carry with us in the future. I am so glad I got to see her this past summer.

We have many fond memories of Judy Ryan and Bill. We were not privileged to know Art except by reputation which was outstanding. We will miss Judy, as we have missed Bill. Our condolences go out to their families
