Yvette Coderre Obituary

PAWTUCKET - Yvette (Chretien) Coderre passed of natural causes at the Jeanne Jugan Residence in Pawtucket on December 5, 2020.

She was 101 years young. Yvette was the wife of the late Edward Coderre who was the love of her life and whom she married in 1947. She and Eddie had five children with whom she is survived by: Denise Betterman of Philadelphia, New York, Pauline Haile of West Warwick, George Coderre of Woonsocket, Raymond Coderre of Lincoln, and Michele Wilson of West Warwick. Yvette also leaves 16 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild as well as multiple nieces and nephews. In addition, she leaves one brother, Richard Chretien of Pawtucket and his wife Claire. She was predeceased by her brother Raymond Chretien and two sisters Gilberte and Isabelle Chretien.

Yvette lived with her four siblings and parents in Central Falls where she graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1937. Yvette held a variety of jobs including: seamstress, lunch lady at her children's school, caretaker for various elderly people and babysitter for her countless grandchildren. Yvette opened her home to all who needed a place to rest their heads and receive emotional support for as long as was needed. She was an avid fan of her children's sports, was a staunch animal lover and a woman of conviction. Yvette was a competitive card player with her family and friends and enjoyed line dancing and ballroom dancing.

As the Coderre matriarch Yvette had an overwhelming influence over 3 family generations. Yvette was a devoted and loyal parishioner of St. Cecilia's parish for over 50 years where she became a committed member of the 3rd order of Mary. Upon her transition to her new home at the Jeanne Jugan residence in 2003 she continued her devotion to her catholic faith with the loving residents, staff and the little sisters of the poor.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday December 10th at 11:30am in St. Cecelia Church 1253 Newport Avenue Pawtucket. All are welcome to attend. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers donations to the Jeanne Jugan Residence 964 Main St. Pawtucket, RI 02860 would be appreciated. Online condolences may be shared at www.darlingtonheroux.com

May my second Mom, rest in peace. She meant alot to me growing up. As the years have gone by that appreciation has grown more each day. The Coderre home and family was my second home. Countless memories will be cherised the rest of my days. She would call every morning to wake me up so we would all be on time for the morning drive to Sacred Heart Academy. Great to know she did not suffer and was reunited with her eternal family members and friends in a peaceful manner! Much Love....

I’ll never forget all the times I would spend at your house. The tasty lunches you would cook, the card games we would play with your friends and Isabelle too. Those are some of the most warmest memories I hold and cherish. I love you Memere!
