BARBARA JEAN (HAIR) AKERS, age 84, of Riverside, California, went to be with the Lord on February 26, 2016. Born in Riverside, Barbara was the youngest child of Griffin and Viola Hair. Her family and children were the love of her life. She grew up next to the orange groves at the bottom of Poppy Hill in the Arlington area and lived her whole life in Riverside. She attended Liberty Elementary, Chemawa Junior High and Poly High School. One of her favorite memories was driving her dad's tractor through the groves hauling smudge pots during freezing weather. She loved to work outside with her plants and flowers, especially roses. Some of her favorite things were the wild birds that she fed, including the blue jays, crows, and especially humming birds. She enjoyed her dogs, including Sparky. Her yeast rolls and pies were always great. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years Vernon Akers; her sister Opal Thomas; brother Vernon Hair, Eulas J. W. (Uli) Hair and Eslie (Les) Hair. She is survived by her two boys Gary Akers and James Christopher (Chris) Akers; her grandchildren Patricia Ann, David and Paul Akers and her five great-grandchildren Gunther, Audrey and Stella Akers and Elizabeth and Michael Grant.
