Albert "Doc" Doucet Obituary
ALBERT "DOC" DOUCET T/Sgt. USAF (Retired) Albert passed away on October 27, 2016 in Riverside, CA at the age of 89. He was born in Waltham, MA, the son of Peter and Lucy Doucet. Albert was a graduate of St. Mary's H.S. in Waltham, MA and the Progressive School of Photography in New Haven, CN. He also received an AA with honors from Riverside City College. He joined the U.S. Army at the end of World War II as soon as he turned 18, and served with the occupation forces in Germany. After photography school, he joined the Air Force as a photographer. He served his country for 21 years including a year in Vietnam. Albert distinguished himself in Vietnam while serving under extremely hazardous conditions as an aerial combat photographer, for which he was awarded the Air Medal with an oak leaf cluster for meritorious achievement. While stationed in England, Albert met his future wife, Joliette Haseldine. He was fond of saying he "crossed the ocean" to claim his bride. They were happily married for 63 years. Albert's civilian career included employment in photography and cartography with the Civil Service, Aerospace Engineering, and General Dynamics. Albert was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Joseph and George, and by his son Stephen. He is survived by his wife Joliette; his daughters Rosemarie and Suzanne; his brothers Victor and Peter; his sisters Pauline, Theresa Jeannette, and Lucille, as well as 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Interment with full military honors will be at 9:30am on Friday, November 4, 2016, at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd., Riverside, CA 92518 with a memorial mass at 1pm at St. Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 3774 Jackson St., Riverside, CA 92503.
