Albert R. Luera Obituary
ALBERT R. LUERA passed away on December 14, 2016. He was born on March 31, 1947 in Riverside, CA to Santiago and Luz. He lived in Riverside his entire life. Albert graduated from Polytechnic High School in 1965, the last class to graduate from the "old" Poly. He worked for 42 years at TXI, formerly known as Riverside Cement Co. He was the store clerk for most of his career before retiring in 2011. In his younger years, Albert was an altar server at Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine. As a teenager, he was a member of the Monarchs car club. In his adult years he enjoyed bowling and listening to Oldies but Goodies. Albert was an avid Dodger fan throughout his life. Albert also enjoyed playing in a Co-ed softball league with friends and family where he was the pitcher. He coached girls softball for St. Thomas Catholic School and RGSA and in 1982 led his team to win the championship. Albert is survived by his wife of 49 years Lupe; son Albert, Jr. (Jenifer), and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter Terri, parents, and brothers Jim and Richard (Arlene). Services will be held on December 28 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine, 2858 9th St., Riverside beginning at 10 am with a visitation, rosary and mass, followed by interment at Olivewood Cemetery.
