Albert Whaley Obituary
ALBERT WHALEY, of Hemet, Ca., passed away peacefully in his long term care home, on January 26, 2015, at the age of 87. He had been in declining health for the past two years. Mr. Whaley was born in Greenville, South Carolina and was the son of the late Benjamin Franklin Jr. and Matilda R. Whaley. He lived in Greenville until entering the Army, serving in Korea during the early 1950's war. He returned to Greenville, where he met Evelyn, the love of his life and his wife of 51 years. In 1957 they moved to Los Angeles, California, where they lived until 1981 when they moved to Hemet, California. He retired from Safeway Grocery after more than 30 years of service. Albert was a dedicated member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ of Hemet. Additionally, he was a member of the Tahquitz Chapter Order of the Eastern Star where he served as Worthy Patron and the Amaranth of Vallecito Court No. 148 where he served as Royal Patron. Surviving are his daughter Nancy Jo and her husband Ron Howell of Manhattan Beach, California and his sister Irene Riddle of Piedmont, South Carolina. Mr. Whaley was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn and his siblings Edith Wade, Mallie Bishop and B.T. Whaley of South Carolina. There will be a viewing on Thursday, February 5, 2015, from 4pm-6pm at: Miller Jones Mortuary, 1501 West Florida Ave., Hemet, Ca 92543 (951-658-3161). A graveside service will be held on Friday, February 6, 2015, from 11am-noon at: Green Hills Memorial Park, 27501 South Western Avenue, Rancho Palos Verdes, Ca 90275 (310-521-4333). A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, February 21, 2015, at 11am with reception following at: The First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Hemet, 200 East Acacia Avenue, Hemet, Ca 92543, 951-658-2533. Deep gratitude and thanks from the family are extended to the caring and dedicated staff of Brookdale Memory Care in Hemet, Hospice VNA and to the in-home care providers for the love and care given to Albert.
