Amelia Sikita Obituary
Amelia (Mel) Sikita nee Gallotto passed away on July 13, 2017. Born in Riverside, CA on Jan. 31, 1934. She attended West Riverside Elementary, Chemawa Jr. High and Poly High School. Mel married Fred Sikita in 1951 and they had two daughters. Mel worked at Alpha Beta Market at California Square. Her interest in real estate led her to get a license and become an agent, working for Frank Miller. While working, she attended RCC completing her AA degree. Mel's interest in her community led her to volunteer with the American Cancer Society, Gheel House and a member of the Unitarian Church. Her experience in volunteering landed her a paid position as a Volunteer Coordinator for the Riverside Branch of the American Cancer Society. She held this position for 10 years. After leaving the Cancer Society, she went back to real estate working with Wayne Holcomb. With retirement, Mel and Fred enjoyed R.V. travel and motorcycle trips. When their grandchildren were born they enjoyed taking them on various trips. As the years flew by, Mel enjoyed being the quintessential Noni, not only to her grandchildren but to her great grandchildren, having all the family gatherings and holidays at the family's long-time home. She is predeceased by her sisters, Mary Reynolds and Gina Chesworth. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Fred; her daughters, Roseanna Woods and Pamela Sikita Ducas (Larry); her grandchildren, Krista Contreras (Clint), Nicholas Ducas (Katie), and great-grandchildren. Mel is also survived by her brother Larry Gallotto of Yucca Valley. Services will be private.
