Angelina Rita "Nonna" Sagherian Obituary
ANGELINA RITA SAGHERIAN ("NONNA"), 90, of Moreno Valley died in Loma Linda after a two week struggle with pneumonia. Angelina was born to Sebastian Gullo and Frances Agnes Nicolosi in New Jersey on November 23, 1924. A high school graduate, Angelina spent 38 years succeeding in secretarial positions and received many commendations for her tireless work ethic and dedication. In 1974, after a 15 year courtship, Angelina married her adoring husband, Ara. More than anything, Angelina devoted her life to serving the Lord. She was a member of the Third Order Secular Franciscans and took charitable efforts to their fullest intentions. She was a regular contributor (and attendee) at the San Diego Wild Animal Park, a place she and her husband spent many days with their grandchildren. Angelina also spent many years serving at a local soup kitchen and volunteering at the local library. She loved to be involved in church activities, including being a lector for many years. In her later years, Angelina and her husband enjoyed frequent trips to their favorite casino buffets. As often as she could she and her husband spent time with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren who lived locally. Angelina was described as a feisty woman; brilliant, funny, compassionate, loyal, forgiving, loving, independent and faithful. She treated everyone like they were family, even those she met for the first time. If she was crossed, she seemed to be able to find a way to turn it back on what she could have done to make the situation better. Many would agree that there truly was no one like her. Unconditional, as her grandchildren describe her. And, boy, did she love her grandchildren! They were her heart and joy and were forever in her prayers. Angelina is survived by her loving husband, Ara, a man who selflessly loved her enough to let her shine as the person she was, without reservation or judgment; her children, Steven Jacobs (m. Suzann) and Jeri Lynn Thompson (m. Hugh); her ten grandchildren, Steve (m. Sandi), Scott Mack (m. Candi), Rachael (m. Tony), Cade (m. Laura), Angela (m. Brandon), Nicole, Faith (m. Ryan), Theresa, Scott Jacobs, and Sean; her 19 (and counting) great-grandchildren, Hannah, Michaela, Rebecca, Allison, Samantha, Charlissa, Gabriel, Ezekiel, Caitlyn, Nikiya, Madison, Peter, Jacob, Angelica, Jackson, Ryan, Savannah, Edward, and Christian; her brother John Gullo; and many nieces and nephews. Angelina was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Eva and Antoinette. Services are being held Thursday, January 15, 2015, at 10 AM at St. Francis X. Cabrini Church. 12687 California St., Yucaipa, CA 92399. A celebration will immediately follow mass. All are invited to attend.
