Ardice Marie (Ardie) Bailor Obituary
ARDICE (ARDIE) MARIE BAILOR (nee Mitchell) of Riverside, California, age 84, went home to be with the Lord on February 24, 2015. Her children were at her side. Daughter of Larene and Harvey Mitchell, she was born in Sterling, Kansas, on September 8, 1930, and grew up in Ohio and Indiana. She graduated in 1953 from Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois, where she majored in physical education and minored in science. Ardie's love for Jesus, her dear family, friends, and students is reflected in her service throughout her life. With her husband Keith Bailor, she ministered to teenagers in Riverside's Young Life from 19571963. Always wanting to help teens learn about Jesus, she served on the Riverside Area Young Life Committee from the early '90s until the present. A member of Magnolia Presbyterian Church in Riverside since 1957, Ardie had served as Deacon, as Elder on Session, on committees, as a teacher in Sunday School for many years, and with the church's homeless feeding program. She was instrumental in developing the Church's afterschool tutoring program, in which she taught for 9 years. Ardie was a member of the Riverside Unified School District Board for 18 years (1976-1995), serving as president for several of those years. Devoted to promoting classroom enrichment, she served on the REEF (Riverside Educational Enrichment Foundation) Board of Directors from 2001 to the present. Ardie taught in the Alvord Unified School District, teaching her last 21 years at Norte Vista High School. Ardie is survived by two sisters: her twin Arlene (Ernest) Williams, Tempe, AZ, and Marilyn Wright, Colorado Springs, CO; four children: Kirk (Christi) Bailor, Vacaville, CA; Karen Rowe, Riverside, CA; Amy (Jonathan) Gilbert, Wichita Falls, TX; Alyson (Byron) Cram, Riverside, CA; 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. A Memorial for Ardie will be held on March 21, 2015 at 2pm at Magnolia Presbyterian Church, 7200 Magnolia Ave, Riverside, CA. Private interment will be at Olivewood Cemetery, Riverside. In lieu of flowers, it is Ardie's wish that donations in her memory be made to Young Life, P.O. Box 547, Riverside, CA 92502; Magnolia Presbyterian Church, 7200 Magnolia Avenue, Riverside, CA 92504; or REEF, 3380 14th Street, Riverside, CA 92501.
