Arlene Raye Williams Obituary
ARLENE RAYE WILLIAMS Arlene died due to complications from Alzheimer's on Sunday February 17th 2013, she was 75. Arlene was born in Skokie Illinois to her parents Raymond and Eunice Jackson and was an older sister to brother Roger Jackson. The family moved to California where she, in the course of time, met and married Daniel Williams Jr. Together they raised 4 children and too many pets to count. Son Daniel and daughter Deborah were forever bringing home strays. They knew if they could get Arlene to pet and suggest a name the animal could stay. Arlene's generous heart was not only for stray animals but stray people too. Every Thanksgiving and Christmas she would open her home to single service men so they could have a wonderful holiday dinner in a warm and welcoming home. Daniel and Arlene had a bit of wanderlust in them and when the wild goose called they would follow. The family has lived in Illinois, California and even for a short time New York City, where Daniel was born and raised. For the last several years she has lived in Sun City, CA. Many will remember that Arlene was direct and practical, one always knew where they stood with her, but she also had the soul of an artist. She could cook a meal, sew a skirt or knit a sweater without recipe or pattern. Her hands were always busy, she could even knit in her sleep sitting up on a couch! Her artistry was also a living for her, she would pour, fire and paint her own ceramics and had a shop for years called Especially for You. Arlene won awards for her creations at the California State Fair and was offered a booth every year she cared to participate. Arlene is survived by her husband Daniel; children Deborah, Daniel, Raymond, and Scott; 11 grandchildren; 5 great-grand-children; her brother Roger; and 3 nieces. The family is being assisted by the Miller-Jones Mortuary and is located at 26770 Murrieta Road Sun City, CA, 92586. Viewing will be held from 3:00 to 3:30, Friday, February 22, with service and reception immediately following.
