AUGUSTINE ZAMORA Age 93, of Riverside, CA passed away August 1, 2013 at VA Loma Linda, CA. Augustine was born May 14th, 1920 in Las Nutrias, New Mexico and raised in Winslow, AZ. He inlisted in the U.S. Navy and served through all of World War II while aboard the Aircraft carrier Hornet. One of his assignments was to be part of Admiral Byrd's Expedition-History to the South Pole for the purpose of geographically photographing Antarctica for up to date maps, which lasted six months. His first civilian job was with Sears Roebuck then was hired by Artcraft Paper Box in 1950-1983. Happily married for 52 years to Jean-Macellari, Augustine was a caring, loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, friend and person. He is survived by his sister Mary Valles; his son, Don Carpenter; grandchildren, Gina Falcon, Larry Carpenter and Sean Carpenter; great grandchildren, Anissa Falcon, Anaya Falcon and David Don Carlos Falcon and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean August 5, 2000 and son, Larry Carpenter. Memorial mass at The Beatitudes of our Lord in LaMirada, CA September 13th, 2013 at 10:30am. Inurnment and honors to follow at Olive Lawn Memorial Park.
