Barbara Jean Pourroy Obituary
BARBARA JEAN POURROY died Tuesday morning, May 13, 2014, due to complications from a sudden illness. She was 81 years old, and a champion to the end. Wife, mother, and cherished friend, Barbara was born February 24, 1933 to Helen and James Doran in Madison, Wisconsin, where she grew up on Milton Street with her large and loving family. She remained close to her brothers and sisters all her life, and they deeply mourn her passing. Barbara was a dedicated lifemate to her beloved husband Fred, with whom she celebrated 53 years of marriage prior to his death in 2006. Barbara and Fred were married in Madison in 1952, but moved to Riverside in 1955 where they made their home and raised four children together. Barbara was a devoted mother and grandmother. Barbara is best remembered for giving generously of herself to others, and was always willing to lend a hand to her family, her neighbors, and her community. She served as an active member of Hope Lutheran Church for over five decades; as a member and officer of Raincross Exchange Club of Riverside (formerly Para Ni¤os) for close to three decades; and as a dedicated Cub Scout den mother, Little League team mother, and member of the Victoria Elementary School PTA. Barbara also attended nearly every ballgame, recital, play, and special event her children and grandchildren were ever part of. Barbara is survived by her daughter Janine Pourroy, and her sons, Fredric Joseph Pourroy III, James Ronald Pourroy, and John Pierre Pourroy, as well as two caring daughters-in-law, Catherine Pourroy and Laura Pourroy. Barbara also leaves behind six grandchildren, in whom she took great delight and with whom she spent much time throughout their lives: Jessica Beld Jones (husband Christopher), Trevor Beld-Jimenez (wife Tania), Katherine Dahl (husband Turner), James Ronald Pourroy, Jr., John Pierre Pourroy II (wife Jaimee), and Rebecca Jean Pourroy. Barbara's great-grandchildren consist of five little girls who always made her smile: Madeleine Janine Engelhardt, River Naima Beld-Jimenez, Brooklynn Belle Pourroy, Penelope Katherine Jones, and Audrey Presley Pourroy. Services will be held at Hope Lutheran Church, 2882 Arlington Avenue, Riverside, on Friday, May 23, at 11:00 a.m., followed by interment at Riverside National Cemetery.
