Barbara Panusis Obituary
BARBARA PANUSIS was born on June 17, 1928 and passed away peacefully due to complications related to Alzheimer's on Monday, February 17, 2014. She was surrounded by her family. Even as she took her last breaths, her husband Charles was there holding her hand, expressing his love and saying good-bye. Charles and Barbara were married for over 68 years and have a lifetime of wonderful memories together. Charles was the love of her life and together they raised three children: Richard, Gayle and Debra, who are now grown and have families of their own. Twenty years ago, Charles and Barbara built a home in Canyon Lake, and have been blessed by the friendships they shared with their neighbors. There in Canyon Lake, Barbara's life was filled with motor home trips with the "Road Runners", evening card games with friends, boating, fishing from their dock and feeding the ducks. As Charles is an avid golfer, Barbara even tried golf. One day when trying to hit the ball, she missed, slipped, and rolled down a small hill, only to arise to a standing ovation from friends. Barbara will also be remembered for her love of animals and willingness to rescue even the smallest of creatures. She was a master knitter and her thoughtful gifts of art have become special treasures in many family and friends' homes. Barbara was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Family meant everything to her. Barbara always tended to the needs of others before her own. Rarely did she ever sit down for Thanksgiving meals as she was always up getting something for her family. She was notorious for her excellent cooking and sneaking bacon fat in several of her dishes to always make them taste better than everyone else's. Barbara will always be remembered for her smiles, laughter and sense of humor. Even one week before her passing, her brother, Buzz visited her from Montana, and despite her battle with Alzheimer's, she recognized him and greeted him with her famous smile. Barbara is survived by her husband, brother, children, sons-in-law: Mark and Jim, seven grandchildren: Brenda, Charles, Allison, Lesley, Luke, Grace, Celeste and fourteen great grandchildren: Zack, Dallas, Tyler, Devon, Tony, Nicole, Morgan, Jessica, Tysen, Aiden, Abby, Addie, Linus and Clara. She will forever be missed. Arlington Mortuary, Directors, (800) 275-4648 www.arlingtonmortuary.com
