Berenice Dowd Wilson Obituary
BERENICE DOWD WILSON Our loving mother, sister and Ama, Berenice Dowd Wilson, passed away August 19, 2016, in Newport Beach, California. "Bunny" as she was known to many, was born January 9, 1922, in Riverside, California. She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Donald M. Wilson, as well as by her mother, Edith Davies Dowd; father, John Wesley Dowd; grandparents, Thomas Richard Dowd and Sophie Pauline Davies; brother, Robert Dowd and daughter-in-law, Sally Wilson. She is survived by sons Robert (Sally), Don (Dona), David (Sherry) and Alan (Jennifer) as well as six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, brother Marshall (Carol) and many nieces and nephews. Berenice graduated from Riverside Polytechnic High School in 1940 and from Riverside Junior College in 1942. She attended California State College Santa Barbara 1942-1944 and was a member of Alpha Delta Chi. Berenice was baptized at Calvary Presbyterian Church and remained a member for more than sixty years. She loved to knit and made many beautiful sweaters for her children and grandchildren. Berenice enjoyed her "sewing group," the Junior League of Riverside, hosting parties for her children and friends and traveling to Europe, South America and numerous trips to Hawaii. She was an avid golfer and she and Don were long-time members of the Victoria Club. A donation to the Arbor Day Foundation, by her brother Marshall and his wife Carol, was made for the planting of 50 trees in the Tahoe National Forest. She was beautiful inside and out and will be in our hearts always.
