Bernard Wayne Mooberry Obituary
BERNARD WAYNE MOOBERRY 1917 - 2013 Wayne, as he was known to his friends, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2013 at the hearty age of 96 with his family close beside him and fireworks saluting a patriotic life well lived. Wayne was born and raised in Crete, Nebraska and moved to California where he was drafted into the infantry (WWII), later transferring into the Army Air Corps (USAF). He was a career serviceman and a veteran of three wars (WWII, Korea and Vietnam). After 27 years of military service Wayne retired to Riverside, CA and joined the civil service where he served for several more years before a second retirement. Wayne resided in Riverside, CA for the past 39 years, where, as a Nebraska native, he continued to cheer on his beloved Cornhuskers. After a career of military relocations he enjoyed his retirement years at home with football, family and gardening. Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Anne; sons Mike Mooberry (Laura), Bruce Mooberry (Tom Crinigan); grandchildren, Matt and Meghan; a sister Roma Jean Carney of Santa Maria, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers Chuck, Mel, and Raz. Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 9th from 4pm-8pm at Akes Family Funeral Home in Riverside.
