1925 - 2014 Obituary Condolences Gallery
BETTY JANE THARP Age 89, passed away peacefully in her sleep into the arms of her Savior on September 5, 2014, in the early hours of the morning. She was born on February 10, 1925 in Omaha, Nebraska to Clifford Parmley and Leona Mabel South. In Omaha, Betty met her husband, Glen Everett Tharp. They were married June 17, 1944, and had three daughters, Sandra, Susan, and Glenda. In 1955 the family moved to Riverside, CA, where they lived and thrived, along with other family who had located in the area. Betty volunteered at the grade school where the girls attended when growing up. She loved to sew and developed a business as a professional seamstress. In 1969 she made the drill team uniforms for Rubidoux High School, maintaining their updates until 1972. Betty took up the game of golf along side of Glen, and became an avid golfer. One year she was president of the women's golf club and became a very active force within the club. When Glen retired they moved to Umatilla, OR, and were there for the next 21 years. Betty continued to play golf, and worked at the high school as a janitor before she retired. When her beloved husband Glen passed away in November 1994, she moved back to Riverside to live with her daughter Susan and her husband, Jack White. She was a member of the Riverside Emblem Club for many years. With the passing of Jack, Susan moved to Vermont and then to Florida. Betty moved to Florida in September 2013 to live with Susan and her husband Steve Fowler. She lived out her last days in Florida, where she felt like she was in paradise and at peace. Betty was a woman of deep faith, who loved her Lord, her family, and her friends. She set an example to all, with her strong will to live life, even in adversity. Betty was preceded in death by her father, step-father, mother, two of her daughters, her husband and her sister.
