Betty Marie Niebergall Hapke Obituary
BETTY MARIE NIEBERGALL HAPKE passed to her Lord after a brief illness on July 25. She was born January 6, 1924, the daughter of Marie and Edward Niebergall of Buffalo, NY. Her two brothers, Howard and Robert, both of whom served in the U.S. Navy in World War II, predeceased her. She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Norman Frank Hapke, and three loving children: Norman Jr, Martha, John, and spouses Valerie, Wayne, and Kim. She was the proud and loving grandmother to Matthew, Kristen, Andrew, Claire, James, and Peter, and two great-grandchildren Kellen and Koen. Prior to World War II she met Norman Hapke in Buffalo. They became engaged before he went overseas in the Army Air Corps, where he flew 37 missions as a B-17 pilot in the Eighth Air Force. Upon his return they were married at 97 Andover St. , Buffalo, New York on Veteran's Day, 1944. She was a proud helpmate and mother as her family moved to San Diego, Tucson and Scottsdale Arizona, Riverside, and finally San Clemente. Betty was an active member of various church congregations, leading Bible studies and being involved in Christian Woman's Clubs for 25 years. She was a leader and mentor to a wide group of women of all ages during her long and active life. Her hobbies included travel, bridge, gardening, swimming, and going to the beach. Betty had a heart full of love for people but especially her devoted family. A Celebration of Life for friends and family will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 22 at Capo Beach church, 25975 Domingo Avenue, Dana Point, CA. www.capobeachchurch.com .
