Beverly Ann Romano Obituary
BEVERLY ANN ROMANO
3/15/1933 - 10/27/2017
Age 84, born in Brooklyn, NY, resident of Riverside, CA for 53 years. She lived in NY and CT until age 15 when her family moved to Arlington, TX, where she graduated from high school. Shortly after, at the age of 19, she moved with her family to Lancaster, CA where she met and married Frank Romano in 1954 and where their first child, Ann, was born. Frank's Air Force career then took them to Madrid, Spain, where their next two children, Michael and Lee were born. The family then moved to Warner Robbins, GA, where their youngest son, Frank, Jr., was born. Upon Frank Sr.'s retirement from the Air Force, the family settled in Riverside, CA in 1964.
Beverly was employed by Riverside Unified School District from 1967 to 1990, when she retired having climbed the ranks from part time health office aide to the Secretary to the Superintendent of Schools. She had been very active in business women's associations such as ABWA, and in school district associations such as RUSOEA and CAEOE, and continued to participate in activities with these organizations even after retirement. She has also enjoyed her time as a lector at St. Andrews Newman Center, as well as being a Newman Center Sponsor. Her passion since 2001 has been her volunteer work with the Assistance League of Riverside, where she had held many offices including President. ALR was an organization near and dear to her heart. She was a talented and passionate knitter and donated many of her beautiful creations to charitable causes. She has been described as "a dynamic, vivacious and liberated redhead." She was admired and loved by so many, and she will be missed by us all. We are blessed to have had her love.
She is survived by two daughters, Ann Therese of San Diego and Beverly Jean (Lee) of Riverside; two sons, Michael Paul of Michigan and Frank Ralph Jr. (Stacie) of Riverside; one sister Diane Gwin of Maryland; one brother Paul Leach of Virginia; four granddaughters; one great-granddaughter and 17 nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Frank Ralph Romano, Sr. and their infant son, Joseph.
