BEVERLY JEAN ROUSSEAU PALMER 1/11/1937 - 9/1/2013 (3:40PM) A lifetime resident of Riverside, CA, born at the Riverside General Hospital in Arlington, CA, passed away at home with many family and friends by her side Sunday, Sept. 1, 2013 after a long battle with complications of diabetes. She was born January 11, 1937, the second oldest of six children to Willis and Pauline Seaver in Arlington. She attended Liberty Elementary School, Chemawa Jr. High School, Poly High School and Riverside Community College. Bev was a volunteer "pink lady" in the gift shop at Parkview and Riverside Community Hospitals for ten years. She worked as a substitute teacher for Riverside Unified School District. She was an Administrative Assistant in the District office of the Alvord Unified School District and North High School in the Riverside Unified School District. She worked at UCR, retiring after 15 years. She was Administrative Assistant to Mike Miller, Vice Chancellor in the Facilities Dept. Bev and her first husband of 13 years, Hector Rousseau, had three children. Bev's second husband George Palmer was Director of Facilities and Bev transferred to UCSD Medical Hospital in San Diego as a Management Service Officer. After transferring back to UCR from San Diego, she retired. Bev continued working for another 10 years as a temp. full time UCR employee in the Research & Grant office, the main library, UCR Day Care Center, Chancellor's Office Parking Dept., and Women's Studies Dept. Bev owned "Bev's Boutique" Gift shop in Lake Arrowhead and Riverside. Bev was queen of the Red Hat Society group for 11 years and loved the social life. Bev was a member of the Riverside Philharmonic Choir, Exchange Club, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and the Mad Hatters Red Hat Club. She loved interior decorating, flower arranging, and hosting holiday parties. She attended the weekly Grove bible study sessions and decorated the tables for each holiday. Bev and George owned a second home in Lake Arrowhead on North Bay Rd. Bev was a board member of the Lake Arrowhead North Bay Association for five years. Their home was featured in the annual Chamber of Commerce Lake Arrowhead Home tour. Bev and her husband George spent 10 years assisting in marketing some of Riverside's most beautiful homes around Riverside. They would move into the empty house, which was for sale, furnish and decorate with the finest of furniture, and be ready to show the model by appointment only. They were married 33 years and moved 52 times! Bev was preceded in death by her husband George in 2009; brothers Gary, Vernon, and Terry Seaver. She is survived by one sister, Rosalie Buchanan; one brother Dewey Seaver and his wife Susie of Arizona; daughter Renee DeGuire and her husband Leo of Riverside; son Rudy Rousseau and his wife Pam of San Bernardino; son Randy Rousseau and his wife Tami of Crestline; grandchildren ShellRae Heath, Alisha DeGuire, Shanice DeGuire, Ricky Chiarito, Rudy Rousseau, Raven and Randy Rousseau; step children Debbie and Roger Rubien of Arizona, Mel and Cindy Palmer of Missouri; step grandchildren Chad and Robyn Palmer of San Diego; great granddaughter Annaliese Palmer; great grandsons Rayce and Lincoln; sisters-in-law Mary Lou Seaver of Hesperia, and Leslie Seaver of Oregon, Janet Meservy and husband Bud of Washington; niece Pam Buchanan and many other nephews and nieces. Services will be held Friday the 13th (Sept. 13, 2013) at 3:00pm at the Grove Community Church Chapel. (Because of her love of Halloween and horror films, the date is appropriate.) Celebration of Life reception will immediately follow in the Grove Church reception hall C100. In lieu of flowers, Bev requested donations to the Grove Community Church, 16900 Grove Community Drive, Riverside, CA 92508.
