Bonnie Salazar Obituary
Age 81, resident of Riverside, CA for 54 years, formerly of Yucaipa, passed away on 7/29/2017 at Kaiser Hospital in Riverside due to complications from surgery. She was born March 14, 1936, in Brawley, CA. After raising her five sons, Bonnie embarked on a second career as a teacher at Harrison Elementary from 1985 to 2003. Throughout her life and into her 80s, Bonnie remained active in volunteer work. She was a member of St. Thomas Church. She was a member of Para Ninos, an auxiliary of Children's Home Society. She was a founding member of the Riverside Exchange Club, which was the first all-women's Exchange Club chapter in the United States. She was a member of ADK, an international honorary organization of women educators. She was a member of the Patient Advisory Council at Riverside Kaiser Hospital. Through her active volunteer work, teaching career, and social activities, she gathered a wide group of friends and loved ones who loved and admired her deeply. She was married to Leo Salazar from 1957 until his death in 2003. She is survived by her sons, Leo Jr., of Riverside; Jonathan, of Riverside; Brian, of Gilbert MN; Steven, of Barcelona, Spain; Darin, of Los Angeles; her loving partner, Thelma, of Riverside; eight grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Visitation: Thurs, August 3 from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., at Acheson & Graham Garden of Prayer Mortuary. Please contact family for Memorial Celebration details.
