DR. BRUCE G. BENNETT, SR. PhD Dr. Bruce G. Bennett, Sr., PhD, of Oceanside, CA and Priest River, ID, passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2015 at his son's home in Chandler, OK after a long illness. Bruce was born October 21, 1949 in Jersey City, NJ to John Joseph Bennett and Ellen Francis Witte Bennett. He was in the U.S. Army from 1967-1970 with a tour in Germany and then Viet Nam where he received the Army Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Terry Bennett. He is also survived by 3 children. Philip Bennett (Joni) of Chandler. OK, Marie Mathison (Justin) of Washougal, WA and Elizabeth Givens (John) of Oceanside, CA, 14 grandchildren and recently a great granddaughter, numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. Bruce received an A.S. Degree in 1974 and his B.S. Degree in 1977. He continued on to get his Masters Degree and received his PhD in Project Sourcing when he was 50 years old. He worked for Xerox for several years and helped develop the first desk top laser printer and then the mammogram machine. He also worked for a medical equipment company and worked on a heart and lung profusion machine. Then he was very proud to work for a company that made a robot to assist in cutting bone in hip replacement surgery. More recently he was employed by Southern California Edison at the San Onofre Nuclear Power Plant. He also worked with his wife running 3 travel agency franchises in Ontario and Norco, California. Bruce loved to travel. He was very fortunate that he was able to travel all over the world for his work and working at the travel agencies also gave him time to travel. Bruce followed his family heritage and became a 3rd Degree Master Mason in 1977. He was currently a member in the Kaniksu Lodge of Priest River Idaho. A funeral with Military Honors was held in Chandler, Oklahoma on February 27, 2015. Private interment was held in the Lutheran All Faiths Cemetery in Middle Village, New York. A Memorial Service to Celebrate his life is being held Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Pierce Bros.
