1929 - 2017 Obituary Condolences
Byron Johnson passed into God's loving hands on December 24, 2017. He was born March 6, 1929 in Council Grove, Kansas to G. Phillips and R. Lucille Johnson.
Byron moved his family to Riverside in January 1965 when he accepted the position of Associate Minister/ Youth Director at First Christian Church of Riverside. After serving with the Council of Churches, he decided on a career change and became a Real Estate Broker. He loved commercial and land sales and devoted his life in assisting and volunteering helping people. Byron also was a member in the Masonic Lodge and the Order of the Eastern Star.
Byron graduated from Council Grove High School, attended Phillips University in Enid, OK and after his Bachelor's Degree returned to college, attending different colleges and finishing seminary at Phillips University. While finishing his seminary in Enid, he served Central Christian Church as Associate Minister/Youth Director. He was an avid and devoted Laker fan.
Byron is survived by his wife of almost 46 years Barbara, children Shirley, Diana, Mark and Paul, and Barbara's children Sandy and Rene, 15 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren and the 1 cat -Tani. He is also survived by his brother Max of Enid, Oklahoma and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Byron's life will be held on Friday, January 12, 2018 at 10:00 AM, at First Christian Church of Riverside, 4055 Jurupa Ave., Riverside. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to First Christian Church of Riverside in memory of Byron R. Johnson.
