Carmela "Mary" (Armeli) Waggoner Obituary
CARMELA "MARY" (ARMELI) WAGGONER God finally said; Yes, it is time. On Nov. 2, 2016, our mother, Carmela "Mary" (Armeli) Waggoner went home to be with our Lord. Born in Toledo, Ohio, July 25, 1927, the oldest of 7 siblings, to Michael and Carmela Armeli, Sicilian Immigrants. Mary married the love of her life, Glenn Carl Waggoner, on Sept. 16, 1944 and enjoyed 56 years of marriage before his passing in 2000. Glenn & Mary moved to Chatsworth, California, in 1960, finally settling in Riverside in 1969. Mary was a homemaker to husband Glenn and her 10 children. She loved to make Raggedy Ann Dolls of which each child, grand and great, cherish. She also donated many Ann & Andy dolls for charity auctions and to many close friends. She was active in the Moms of the Military, enjoyed Golf and her Lifetime Membership at Canyon Crest Country Club. She served as President of the Women's Golf Auxiliary 1983-1985. Mary and her daughter Laurie are the only mother/daughter in Canyon Crest history to serve in this capacity. Glenn and Mary taught all their children and grandchildren to play and love the game of golf. Mary was an active, loving mother passing along her Italian traditions of Ravioli making and Italian recipes that her children continue today. She served as Den Mother to her 3 boys, and through the years as Brownie, Girl Scout and Bluebird leader for her 7 daughters. Always serving with a great sense of humor. Mary was preceded in death by her husband Glenn; her 6 siblings; son James and daughter Joey Blackwelder-Ponto. She is survived by 8 children, Carolyn, Glenn Jr. (Laurie), John, Mary (Steve), Laurie (Dave), Jan (Doug), Patti (Bruce), JoDean, 27 grandchildren and 41 great grandchildren.
