Carolyn Lee da Silca Obituary
Age, 80. Carolyn "Fidi" da Silva was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts on April 26, 1937 and she passed away unexpectedly on her 80th birthday April 26, 2017. Fortunately, just a week before she left us, all her children and grandchildren joined her for an early 80th birthday celebration in Sedona, Arizona.
As a young girl Carolyn spent her summers at a camp in Maine called Wohelo. She cherished the memories from Sebago Lake and years of camp. She shared this experience with both daughters Suzy (10 years) and Sandy (2 years) both attended Wohelo as second generation camper/counselors.
Carolyn attended boarding school at Verde Valley School in Sedona before heading to University of Arizona where she met and married her college sweetheart Eduardo G. da Silva. They were married for 54 years and have three children and five grandchildren.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her father, Robert F Elder, mother Ethel M Elder, and brothers Robert "Bobbie" Elder and Bill Elder. She is survived by her husband of 54 years Eduardo (Ed) da Silva; her three children Sandra "Sandy" Silva (Frank), David "Dave" da Silva (Sara) and Susana "Suzy" Hamilton (Cameron) and five grandchildren; Rachel (20) and Lauren (16) Silva, Andrew (10) and Colby (7) Hamilton, and her newest and cutest addition Conor (9 months) da Silva.
Carolyn was an excellent cook, mother and wife. She cooked gourmet meals for her husband and family every day. Family was her joy. She loved spending time with her immediate family and Ed's large extended "da Silva" family. Most holidays were either hosted at her house (Christmas) or she was the defacto host (Thanksgiving) for the family. Her entire family enjoyed her annual calendar which had every family member's birthdays, anniversaries along with lots of family photos.
Carolyn and Ed lived and raised their children in Rancho Palos Verdes for 37 years. There she was always selected as Team Mom because she made amazing home sewn banners and hosted the best pool parties. Many remember her as an amazing artist who made home made stuffed animals which she sold at local boutiques and craft shows.
Her last fifteen years have been spent at Four Seasons in Murrieta where she enjoyed social activities, water aerobics, and billiards. She spent her free time doing puzzles, playing Words with Friends and counting her "likes" on Facebook.
Carolyn and Ed also enjoyed taking cruises, completing their 28th Princess Cruise in February when they cruised for 15 days through the Panama Canal. She was never one to miss "nini time" (5pm sharp!) when her and Ed enjoyed a "gin up, with a twist, martini". She will be missed by all who knew her.
