CECILE THOMSON died December 1, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. Born April 16, 1938 in Sacramento, CA, Cecile received her Bachelor of Arts in Education with a minor in Music from Sacramento State University. She also spent time studying at the University of Hawaii and worked at the Hali Kalani Resort. Upon graduation, she became an elementary school teacher until she started her dream of having a family as a loving full-time mother. She served as the Queen of Job's Daughters, President of the UCR Campus Club, a board member of the National Charity League and other various philanthropic offices. She was very supportive of the Salvation Army often ringing the bell at Christmas time. She had a passion for walking with her friends, bridge, birds and tennis. She enjoyed her membership at Canyon Crest Country Club for over 30 years. She loved her memories of living in England and traveling the world. She was an enchanting, adventurous women and touched everyone who knew her. She would rather "light a candle than curse the darkness." She is survived by her husband of 56 years, William Thomson; her son Craig Thomson (Sharron), Brian Thomson (Rhonda) and Erin Fuller (John). She also leaves behind her beloved 6 grandchildren, Matthew, Jacob, Bonnie, Miranda, Madeleine and Cameron, as well as her niece Teri McGill and family. A private celebration of life will be held at the Canyon Crest Country Club on December 22nd between 1:00pm and 4:00pm for family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the U.C.R. Thomson Graduate Endowment with Botany and Plant Sciences (Gift Administration, 900 University Avenue, 1136 Hinderaker Hall, U.C.R., CA, 92521) or the local Salvation Army.
