Charlene Faulkner Walsh Obituary
CHARLENE FAULKNER WALSH Charlene was born April 14, 1942, to Fred and Betty Faulkner of Santa Ana, CA. On Monday, October 1st, she lost her courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease), after a two and a half year struggle. The Faulkner family relocated to Hemet, California, in 1949. She grew up in Hemet, attending Hemet schools, graduating in 1960 from Hemet Union High School. She also attended Mt. San Jacinto College. She married Jim Walsh in 1961, and together they raised their three children: Kristin, Patrick and Kathryn. In 1958, she was one of the five finalists in the Hemet Farmers' Fair Farmers' Daughters Contest. In 1959 and 1960, she played the part of Margarita in the Ramona Pageant. She was active in the Ramona Players, and played the lead part of Laurie in 1961 in the production of "Green Grow the Lilacs." Charlene taught pre-school for 25 years at Trinity Lutheran Church, Hemet Valley Hospital Child Care Center, and Mt. San Jacinto Child Care Center. Many of her former students remember "Ms. Walsh" as one of their favorite teachers. One of her most enjoyable past-times was reading, and she passed on her love of books to her children. We also have to add how much she enjoyed her "special times" at various casinos. A joyous, adventurous time in Char's life was taking cross-country road trips with her sister "Rocky," which ended up with hours of laughter due to both of them being directionally challenged. Charlene was fondly known by her family as "Cha-Chu," a nickname given to her by her brother Fred when he was a toddler. Cha-Chu had a quick wit, wonderful laugh and smile that her family and friends will carry in their hearts forever. Charlene was predeceased by her mother, Betty Wilkerson, of Hemet, California. She is survived by her father, Fred (Carol) Faulkner of Riverside, California; daughter Kristin (Pat) Walsh of Coronado, California; son Patrick (Jolene) Walsh of Hemet, California; daughter Kathryn (Galen) Chin of Lomita, California; step-father, Ron Wilkerson, of Menifee, California; her companion of seven years, Gordon Hall, of Phelan, California; her brother Fred (Tamara) Faulkner of Sherman Oaks, California; her sister Roxanne (Stanley) Orrock of Riverside, California; her brother Loren (Linda) Faulkner of Riverside, California; brother George Faulkner of Hemet, California; beloved grandchildren: Cole and Holly Kegans; Lucy, Adeline and Juliet Chin; Teagan Walsh; numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of extended family and friends. You are no longer suffering and in pain from the horrendous disease that took your precious life. We miss and love you, Cha Chu; your loss will be felt by all who loved you so dearly. A Celebration of Charlene's Life will be announced at a later date.
