Charlene Joan Penn

1933 - 2017 Obituary Condolences
Charlene passed away September 7, 2017 in Riverside, CA at the age of 84 years. Born May 24, 1933 in Mansfield, OH to Charles and Kathrine (Sells) Raitch. From the beginning, her one true passion was her family. She was married to, and in love with the same man for 64 years, Roy J. Penn. Nothing ever came before her children, Terry, Jim, Dione, Tom, Allison and Bob. She would sacrifice everything to ensure their happiness and safety. That love continued until her final day.
Charlene was kind, giving and had a sincere desire to look after and care for those less fortunate than herself, many times inviting those with nowhere to go to join the family at Thanksgiving or Christmas. Family, friend or stranger, she treated everyone the same, with compassion..
Balancing the time it took to be a wonderful mother, she started and ran her very own travel agency, "Travel Dreams". There, she took great care of everyone, treating them like they were part of the family. She loved to travel, visiting so many different countries on several continents, loving the cultures, and loving the people. Charlene had a soft spot for animals and was always willing to adopt a stray or save a pet, always bringing them into our home.
In her later years, the driving force of her happiness was her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Nothing brought a bigger smile to her face than to spend time with them. She was very proud of them, bragged about them and loved them. She represented everything a grandma should be.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, September 15, 2017 at 11:00 A. M. in Pathway Christian Church, 6755 Victoria Ave., Riverside, CA 92506 with interment following in Olivewood Memorial Park. Arrangements Entrusted To The Care of

9695 Magnolia Ave., Riverside, CA 92503 (951) 785-4071.
