Charles King Obituary
CHARLES ROBERT KING Charles Robert King ("Bob King") went to enjoy the eternal presence of our Lord on January 7, 2014. He was surrounded by his family and friends. He is survived by Donna, his wife of 41 years, their children: Matthew, Amanda, Jessica, Leena, David, Rebecca, Adam, Sarah, Peter, William, Johnathan, and Joseph; and his grandchildren: Annalise, Abbigayle, Alliyah, Addelaide, Avvaleigh, Tirian, Benjamin, Samantha, Jacob, Elizabeth, Olivia, and Natalie. Born June 15, 1952 in Sentinel, OK, Bob came to live in Long Beach, CA at age 12. He met his bride and the love of his life in their Junior year of high school and they were married in 1972. Bob entered the Navy that same year and remained on either active duty or reserve status until his retirement as a Naval Commander in 2008. Bob and Donna were stationed on Okinawa, Scotland and Virginia. When he wasn't doing his "Navy stuff," Bob worked for various aerospace corporations as a systems analyst. Bob was a member of Discovery Christian Church from his arrival in Moreno Valley until his passing. Nine of Bob and Donna's twelve children are adopted and many of his younger children have special needs. Bob loved to play basketball whether it was organized sports or a game of "Horse" with his children. He would never pass up an opportunity to watch a Star Trek movie (though he preferred the even numbered ones), and laughed until he cried at his beloved Monty Python ("Nooooobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!"). Every year he baked hundreds of homemade Scottish shortbread for friends and family. Never one to avoid talking to a stranger, Bob has made incalculable friends across many states and numerous countries during his life. All who love him will miss his ever-present smile and his servant's heart. We rejoice in the fact that he is now blessing his Creator with those very same gifts as he rests in the presence of the Lord. Private funeral services will be held; however, a"Celebration of Life" will be observed at Discovery Christian Church on Sunday, January 19th, at 3:00pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider the needs of the family.
