Charles McCleary Obituary

CHARLES R. MCCLEARY 10/01/1928-01/04/2016 Charles "Rudy" McCleary passed away peacefully on January 4, 2016. He was born in Franklin County, Columbus, Ohio. He graduated from North High School in Columbus, Ohio. He was an Air Controlman and pilot for the U.S. Navy from 1946-1948. His family moved to California during this time. Rudy completed his Associate of Arts degree at Long Beach City College in 1950. It was there where he met and soon married Daisy Fern Funderburk. Their clan grew. Daughters Laura and Cameron, and son Kevin became the most important young people in their lives. Rudy attended night school for a number of years and ultimately graduated from Long Beach State University in 1967. Professionally, Rudy was a Procedures Writer and Management Systems Specialist in the Aerospace and Electronics industries. Rudy was a lover of life and lived it to the fullest! He was very active in the YMCA Indian Guides organization of Garden Grove, California and the Boy Scouts, Orange Empire Council. Rudy developed other passions; camping and photography, to name a few. He added the status of Grandpa, in 1992 when Emily was born. Rudy and wife Daisy shared a love of traveling. Memorable trips included China, Europe, Australia, Greece and family Memorial Day camping trips to Balch Park in the Southern Sequoia Forrest. Rudy's wife, Daisy preceded him in death, by just months. Family will be gathering privately to honor their father and beloved grandfather. He will be greatly missed on this earth!
