Charlotte (Haskell) Huber Obituary
CHARLOTTE (HASKELL) HUBER passed away one year ago today on January 26, 2014 in Fresno, CA. She was born to Jess Haskell and Lara (Hawks) Haskell on November 10, 1927 in Chicago, Ill. She attended Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa. When she graduated in 1950, she was the first in her family to graduate college. She was a member of the Pi Beta Phi Sorority. While at Simpson, she met her future husband, Herman "Ronald" Huber. They were married August 19, 1950 in Racine, Wisc. Ronald and Charlotte lived in various locations while he served in the Army during the Korean conflict. They settled in Southern California in 1955, living in Anaheim, Riverside and Laguna Woods. They found a church to be involved in every place they moved. Charlotte loved to attend Bible Studies and to serve. She had just helped with the Holiday Boutique at Peoples Church in Fresno weeks before she died. Charlotte was an Elementary School Teacher in the Anaheim Unified School District and the Riverside Unified School District for numerous years before retiring in 1981. She enjoyed being a part of Assistance League and Panhellenic while in Riverside. Her sorority sisters were her forever friends and her years with Panhellenic (two as president) were very fulfilling. She and Ronald loved to travel. They had visited every place in the world on their wish list before Ronald passed away in 2010. They missed celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary by five months. In 2013 she moved to Fresno to be closer to her oldest daughter and family. She loved tending her plants, shopping a sale, fireworks, and reading the daily newspaper cover to cover. She is survived by her children, Marcia Bimat, Ronda (Patrick) Spires, and Christopher (Valerie) Huber and six grandchildren. Charlotte is buried with Ronald at Riverside Nat'l Cemetery.
