1923 - 2014 Obituary Condolences
CDR. CHESTER H. WIDMANN USNR (ret) Chester Henry Widmann, 90, beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away on September 14, 2014 at his home peacefully that morning. He was born to Agatha and Florian on November 8th, 1923 in Holding Township, Minnesota. Spending his childhood years around the family farms and during the depression he learned the value of hard work. He graduated from St. Cloud High School with honors in 1941. In October of 1942 he enlisted with the US Navy in their special V-5 air program to become a naval aviator. He served in the Aleutian Islands in Alaska flying anti-submarine warfare during WWII also as a carrier pilot during the Korean War. He continued his career in the Navy reserve and retired as a commander in 1983. During his naval career, we were blessed that he survived three plane crashes to live a long full life. He graduated from San Diego State University with honors with a degree in Business Administration and Accounting. He took postgraduate work toward his Masters degree in accounting at University of Southern California which led him to become a very loyal USC Trojan fan. He had a very successful Business career as a CPA with his final position as President of Keenan Pipe and Supply, Vernon CA. He was very active in Rotary International for 32 years serving as President of Vernon Rotary Club from 1978-1979 receiving the Paul Harris Fellow. He married his first wife in 1946 and had five children, four daughters and one son. In 1968, he married the love of his life, Deanne who had two sons. They lived a beautiful 47 years together. During his retirement in Chelan, Washington and later at Sun Lakes Country Club in Banning, California he enjoyed golfing with his family and friends. Those who have preceded him in death are his parents, one brother and two sisters, and his step son, Leslie Early. He is survived by a large blended family and friends who will miss his beautiful smile, sense of humor and all his hugs: his wife Deanne and his six children Carmel Fleck (David), Dana Altiand (Andrew), Jeffrey Widmann (Thom), Jamie Horn (Gary), Beth Mohan (Jerry) and Steven Early (Carolyn). He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was an extraordinary man and we are all blessed that he was in each one of our lives. The Widmann and Early family and friends will celebrate his life and faith at Weaver Mortuary, September 23 at 11:30am followed by his military burial at Riverside National Cemetery at 1:30pm. A reception will follow at Weaver Mortuary in Beaumont. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to Wounded Warriors at woundedwarriorproject.org in Chet's honor.
