Clifford C. Brown Obituary
Clifford C. Brown, of Riverside, CA, passed away July 24, 2017 at the age of 91. He was born September 23, 1925 to John and Ada Brown in Yale, Michigan, one of seven children, having 5 brothers and 1 sister. After graduating from Yale High School he enlisted in the Army Air Corp at age 17. He was assigned to the 8th Air Force, 457th Bomb Group, 749th Squadron at Glatton Airfield in England as a B-17 tailgunner.
After the war Clifford returned to Yale, Michigan and then enrolled at Michigan State using the GI Bill graduating in 1952. It was at Michigan State where he met Eileen Kinney whom he married on June 21, 1952. After an extended honeymoon they settled in Riverside where Clifford took a job with Albert A. Webb Associates. He later joined Riverside County Flood Control where he worked for 28 years, retiring in 1984. After retiring he enjoyed many years of traveling throughout the United States and Canada with his wife.
He was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Eileen, his father and mother John and Ada Brown of Yale, Michigan, his brother Howard of Puyallup, Washington, his brother Jack of Port Huron, Michigan, his brother Arthur of Yale, Michigan, and his sister Virginia Dempsey of Dryden. Michigan.
He is survived by his brothers Richard of Lady Lakes, Florida and Gerald of Lansing, Michigan; his children Monica of Fairfield, California, Karen (Edward) of Chandler, Arizona, Richard of Menifee, California, Mark (Melinda) of Riverside, California, Carolyn of Riverside, California, and Keith (Shannon) of Victorville, California as well as 8 grandchildren and 4 great- grandchildren.
A Private Service will be held at Riverside National Cemetery. The family would like to thank all those who knew Clifford and have expressed their condolences. We would like to especially thank the staff at Arlington Gardens Care Center who took such wonderful care of our father. He truly enjoyed each of you and appreciated all the help you gave him.
