Clyde Eugene "Gene" Emmert Obituary
CLYDE EUGENE "GENE" EMMERT Clyde Eugene "Gene" Emmert, of Riverside, CA, passed away on the morning of Saturday, September 28, 2013. Gene was born on April 26, 1929 in Bristol, Tennessee. On February 6, 1948, he was married to Lillie Catherine Porter, who survives him. Gene's sister, Francis; brother, Lawrence; son, Gary; and his daughter, Vickie, survive him along with four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Gene was a quiet man who appreciated the arts as much as he believed in the value of hard work. Some of Gene's favorite pastimes were performing household maintenance, spending time with his grand and great grandchildren, shopping at swap meets and collecting Western memorabilia. Amassing a collection of Western movie recordings the Smithsonian would envy, Gene was a historian in his own right who kept the magic of the silver screen cowboy alive. A hard-working yet balanced man, Gene taught everyone around him not only to value compassion, honesty, and productivity, but also to enjoy the sweet things in life, such as pecan clusters, adventure, and family. Gene's life will be celebrated at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on Saturday, October 12th at 11:00am.
