Cynthia Jean Hocking Lobb Obituary
CYNTHIA JEAN HOCKING LOBB was born June 12, 1962 in San Francisco, CA. Comforted by her Lord and savior Jesus Christ, she died peacefully at home with her four boys and husband by her side on September 5, 2014. Cynthia was raised by her parents Thomas and Diane Hocking in Delano, CA with her two brothers David and Tommy. In high school, Cynthia was president of her senior class, varsity cheer captain, co-editor of the yearbook, voted most active, and a member of the swim team. Upon graduating from Delano High School in 1980 she went to college at UCLA. In college, Cynthia was president of her sorority Alpha Delta Chi and was a member of the UCLA marching band. After completing her undergraduate degree, she traveled the world studying at Harvard and Oxford, as well as working in Paris, and then moved to San Francisco for law school. Cynthia began her legal studies at Golden Gate University and finished her Juris Doctorate at the University of San Diego. Cynthia passed the California Bar Exam on her first try and was a member of the California Bar Association for 21 years. While in law school, Cynthia met her future husband Mark Lobb, whom she was happily married to for 24 years. In 1991, Cynthia and Mark moved to Temecula with their newborn son, Sean. Over the years they were blessed with three more boys, Kevin, Braden, and William. Sean has received his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Irvine, and is currently attending law school at UCI. Kevin is currently attending college at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo. Braden is a freshman at Great Oak High School. The youngest, William, is in sixth grade at Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac School. Cynthia was a wonderful mother and wife. Cynthia was always "on the go" and loved participating in community events, and seeing and learning new things. While living in Temecula, Cynthia was very active at Saint Martha's Catholic Church and within the community. She founded and participated in many non-profit organizations including Mothers and Others and the G.I.F.T. Foundation. Cynthia also loved hosting parties at her home. She cherished her Irish heritage and without fail would host a Saint Patrick's Day party for her friends every year. In October of 2013 Cynthia was diagnosed with late stage four pancreatic cancer. She put up a good fight and enjoyed life to its fullest up until her last breath. Three weeks before her passing, she returned from a three-week trip to Europe taking planes, trains, boats, and automobiles with her family from Prague to Barcelona. She loved the trip! On the night of her passing, over a hundred of her friends and family gathered outside of her home and participated in a candle lit procession. With her upstairs bedroom balcony doors and windows open, she was able to listen to her loved ones sing religious songs and pray for her. After the procession, Cynthia's boys and husband kneeled at her bedside and said their nightly prayers. Upon conclusion of the last prayer Cynthia left to be with her Lord. In addition to her boys and husband, Cynthia is survived by her father Thomas Hocking, stepmother Wava Hocking, brother David Hocking along with his wife Stacy and daughters Lisa, Lindsey and Bailey, stepbrother and wife Ken and Lisa Billingsley, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles. Cynthia was predeceased by her mother Diane and brother Tommy. Cynthia's funeral will be held at Saint Martha's Church on September 11, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. A reception at the church will follow. She will be buried at the Temecula Cemetery. The Lobb family asks that donations in her memory be made to the G.I.F.T. Foundation: 37389 Huckaby Lane, Murrieta, CA 92562.
