Darren Hockersmith Obituary
DARREN HOCKERSMITH Born March 2, 1970, our hero, Darren Hockersmith passed October 8, 2013. 40+ family and friends, many more in spirit, and many others that wished they could be there, surrounded Darren Tuesday evening in his hospital room to bid him a final farewell. We raised our glasses and gave cheers to a life well lived and a loved one we'll miss deeply. It was a beautiful, intense, heart-warming and heart breaking moment that will stay with us all forever. Darren will be remembered as a loving son, brother, father, uncle, boyfriend, and friend by so many. Though his life was cut short by ALS, he wasted not a moment of his blessed time here with us all. He enjoyed making us laugh till we cried, playing poker, water-skiing, drinking Bud Light, and reminding us all daily just how handsome he was (and he was very handsome!). But his greatest joy of all was being a father. Darren was preceded in death by his parents, Jim & Dottie Hockersmith, and his brother Garrett Dyer. He is survived by his son Garrett Hockersmith, 11, of Crestline; stepdaughter Maile Hassler, 20, of San Diego; the love of his life, Katie Sartin of Mira Loma; sister Raschelle Logan; brothers Curt Hockersmith & Bret Dyer; numerous nieces and nephews that he was "the favorite uncle" to; one soon to be grandchild; and countless friends who couldn't help but be drawn by the magnetism which only he possessed. A greater man, you cannot imagine. He shall live on in our memories, our hearts and our souls. Until we meet again. . . A Memorial Service is scheduled for Saturday, October 19, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Thomas Miller Mortuary in Corona. Darren did not want black at his funeral. Please honor him and wear any other color of choice.
